Meer dan 30 jaar geleden ontwikkelden de ingenieurs van Schaeffler onder het LuK-productmerk een revolutionaire technologie voor het dempen van torsietrillingen in de aandrijflijn: het dubbelmassavliegwiel (DMF). In tegenstelling tot een conventioneel vliegwiel bestaat het tweedelig vliegwiel uit twee massa's die gemonteerd zijn om tegen elkaar aan te draaien. In het tweedelig vliegwiel is een dempingssysteem in de vorm van boogveren geïntegreerd. Zo absorbeert het de torsietrillingen van de motor en bijna volledig.
